At the moment I am reading Help For the Haunted by John Searles which has been very enjoyable thus far. At the present time it is rates 3.65 stars out of 5 on goodreads.com and generally characterized as modern gothic novel with mystery, paranormal themes and smooth transitions between past and present events. The book revolves around a teenage girl named Sylvie Mason who tragically loses her parents one February night. That night she is awaken from a gunshot from within an old church building where her parents were lured to from a phone call earlier that evening from their eldest daughter Rose. From that point on Slyvie is on the path to discovery to find out what happen to her parents and what secrets laid hidden from her for so long.
One thing I find very interesting is how the author draws parallels between the parents in the novel to the real life of Ed and Lorraine Warren who handle paranormal cases such as the Amityville Horror , Smurl Family case, and the haunting in Connecticut.
